EnerSys® to Debut ODYSSEY® Battery-Branded INDYCAR Onsite at 2022 AAPEX Show; Motorsports Icons to Appear for Attendee ‘Meet-and-Greets’

New product line extension to be revealed at ODYSSEY® battery booth no. A1838

READING, Pennsylvania – EnerSys® (NYSE:ENS), the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications and the manufacturer of ODYSSEY® batteries, is gearing up to make a lasting impression at the 2022 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) with a jam-packed exhibit featuring the debut of the ODYSSEY® battery-branded No. 3 Team Penske INDYCAR Chevrolet. 2021 INDYCAR SERIES Rookie of the Year, Scott McLaughlin, drove this premium-powered racecar for the checkered flag during its first series race appearance at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in July 2022 and continues to lead McLaughlin down a path of victory. Several internationally recognized motorsports personalities, including Austin Cindric, driver of the No. 2 Ford Mustang for Team Penske, NASCAR Cup Series; Rutledge Wood, car enthusiast and NASCAR analyst for NBC Sports; and Richard Petty, NASCAR, Motorsports, International Motorsports and Diecast Hall of Famer, will also make appearances at ODYSSEY® battery booth no. A1838 during this year’s show, which takes place November 1–3, 2022 at The Venetian Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“We look forward to the AAPEX show every year and our exhibit this time around is certain to offer the attendees many memorable experiences from their visit,” said Dave McMullen, Senior Director of Global Marketing, Transportation & Specialty at EnerSys. “Not only will they have the chance to see the official, race-winning 2022 No. 3 INDYCAR Chevrolet and meet with several of the leading celebrities in today’s motorsports world, but they will also have the opportunity to explore our full line of advanced ODYSSEY® batteries – which includes a first look at three new powersports models that are engineered to meet the rigors of any terrain, both on and off road.”

In addition to the in-booth INDYCAR vehicle display and celebrity appearances, EnerSys will also premiere its extended ODYSSEY® battery powersports portfolio with the addition of three of the most popular sizes for this type of application. These new models feature a drop-in fit, so no accessories are needed for proper installation, and are the first in these group sizes to be available with proprietary Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology. The Company’s entire line of ODYSSEY® Extreme and ODYSSEY® Performance batteries, built to provide trustworthy performance and long-lasting power for a variety of vehicle applications, that includes automotive/truck, powersports, marine, Recreational Vehicles (RVs), heavy duty and fleet, will also be on display at the 2022 AAPEX Show.

“We pride ourselves on developing a brand of power that is known for its exceptional reliability, longevity, suitability and performance,” continued McMullen, “and not just in one transportation segment, but across a diverse range of vehicle applications. From monster trucks and long-haul fleets to classic automobiles, 4-wheelers and motorboats, ODYSSEY® batteries are engineered to perform in any environment, under any condition without compromise.”

ODYSSEY® TPPL batteries are engineered with pure lead plates that can be made thinner than those in conventional flooded lead acid batteries, so more fit into the same size footprint to provide greater surface area. This enables more electrochemical reactions with the electrolyte to produce more power than conventional batteries of comparable size. In addition to greater starting power, ODYSSEY® batteries provide ample deep cycling reserve power, with engine cranking pulses up to 3,125 amps for five seconds, which is double that of equally sized conventional lead acid batteries. They also feature sealed Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) construction, which packs the plates tightly in absorbent fiberglass separators that hold the electrolyte and make the batteries virtually maintenance-free. The rugged, AGM construction and non-spillable design of ODYSSEY® batteries also protect against high-impact shock and mechanical vibration, which helps to provide longer service life. Backed by an industry-leading warranty, they feature a two-year storage life at 77°F (25°C) and are available in a wide variety of sizes with Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) as high as 2,250.
