EnerSys® Exhibits ODYSSEY® Group 31 Batteries at TMC 2022 Exhibition

EnerSys® (NYSE:ENS), the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications and the manufacturer of ODYSSEY® batteries, will feature its full suite of ODYSSEY® Group 31 batteries in booth no. 2441 at the American Trucking Association (ATA) Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) 2022 Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition. Among the virtually maintenance-free battery models on display at this year’s show include the company’s ODYSSEY® Performance batteries, a cost-effective choice designed to handle the increased use of onboard accessories in today’s heavy duty fleets and ODYSSEY® Extreme batteries, a true dual-purpose solution that offers enormous cranking and deep cycle reserve power. This year’s event will be held March 7 to 10 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

“Our selection of ODYSSEY® Group 31 batteries offers greater performance, longevity and budgetary options for heavy duty and commercial fleet operators,” said Dave McMullen, Senior Director of Marketing, Transportation & Specialty at EnerSys. “The proprietary Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology at the heart of our ODYSSEY® battery portfolio provides three times the life and twice the power of conventional batteries, as well as greater starting power, more rapid recovery and better durability. They also help drivers deal with idling restrictions by enabling them to run onboard accessories when the engine is off and fleet managers benefit from cost savings achieved with less frequent replacement and maintenance.”

ODYSSEY® batteries, manufactured with proprietary TPPL technology, feature pure lead plates that can be made thinner than those in conventional flooded lead acid batteries, so more fit into the same size footprint to provide greater surface area. This enables more electrochemical reactions with the electrolyte to produce more power than conventional batteries of comparable size. In addition to greater starting power, ODYSSEY® batteries provide ample deep cycling reserve power, with engine cranking pulses up to 3,125 amps for five seconds, which is double that of equally sized conventional lead acid batteries. They also feature sealed Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) construction, which packs the plates tightly in absorbent fiberglass separators that hold the electrolyte and make the batteries virtually maintenance-free. The rugged, AGM construction and non-spillable design of ODYSSEY® batteries also protect against high-impact shock and mechanical vibration, helping to provide longer service life. Backed by an industry-leading warranty, they feature a three- to 10-year service life and a two-year storage life at 77°F (25°C). They are available in a wide variety of sizes with Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) as high as 2,250.
