Primitive RV Camping
You may not think primitive RV camping is possible, but it is – people do it all the time. However, if you’re going to go completely off the grid, do it right. That means making sure your Recreational Vehicle (RV) has an ODYSSEY® battery before you leave for your campsite. You’re going to be away from civilization – and power sources – for a while. An ODYSSEY® battery will give you peace of mind knowing that your RV and everything inside it will have the power you need for the duration of your trip.
Why Having an ODYSSEY® Battery Will Be So Important?
An ODYSSEY® battery from EnerSys® doesn’t look much different from any other battery, but that’s where the similarities end. ODYSSEY® batteries last three times as long and deliver twice the power of conventional lead acid batteries.
If you’re going to go primitive camping, you shouldn’t use anything other than an ODYSSEY® battery – that is, unless you want to worry about running out of power while you’re getting away from it all. ODYSSEY® batteries feature Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, so this won’t be a concern. We can fit more lead plates in our battery than others can. In a nutshell, the more lead plates inside a battery, the more power that battery will produce.
How is Primitive Camping Possible in an RV?
If you’ve ever had to deal with obnoxious “neighbors” while in the great outdoors, then you can see why primitive camping is a great option. Primitive camping is basically camping in an area that lacks the standard amenities, such as running water or bathrooms. This type of camping is attractive to many people because there’s very little chance they’ll run into anyone else.
The amount of time a person spends on a primitive camping trip will largely depend on their ability to stay self-sufficient. It’s a great way to disconnect from the world for a little while, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll have to rough it. Just because you want some solitude doesn’t mean you have to return to the Stone Age. You don’t even have to sleep in a tent if you don’t want to do so.
When you have an ODYSSEY® battery powering your RV, you’ll still have access to your refrigerator, oven and even your television and stereo if you like. You’ll also have enough power to keep your smartphone, tablet and other electronic devices running smoothly.
Before you decide to go on a primitive camping trip, however, you’ll want to remember a few things. There won’t be any trash service, so you’ll have to make room in your RV to bring back any trash you generate. Don’t be one of those campers who leaves their trash at the campsite – that’s why so many public lands are no longer open to camping.
Also, you won’t have any water or sewer hookups. You’ll want to manage the amount of water you use and bring more than you think you’ll need to stay on the safe side. When you have to dump your tanks, you’ll probably have to go to a traditional campsite to do so.
Above all, remember that you’ll need to have an ODYSSEY® battery if you plan on a primitive RV camping trip soon. It will make it possible to have a trip you’ll look back on fondly for years to come.
