12v Deep Cycle Battery

The ODYSSEY® battery from EnerSys is a 12v deep cycle battery that helps provide reliable power and durability for your recreational vehicle (RV) application. Since the ODYSSEY® battery contains proprietary Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, it can deliver enormous cranking power. No matter where you take your RV, you can feel confident that you have a dependable battery solution onboard to help power your electronics and appliances throughout your adventure.

Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM)

The ODYSSEY® battery consists of an Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) design. Unlike conventional flooded lead acid batteries, AGM batteries consist of a sealed design that does not require adding water, making them maintenance-free.

All batteries need a substance known as electrolyte to generate power. Conventional flooded lead acid batteries allow this electrolyte to flow freely. The glass mat separators in AGM batteries absorb this substance, making them spill proof. Ultimately, the plates are able to be packed tighter, offering better vibration resistance for when you take your RV off-road.

TPPL Explained

There are a lot of AGM batteries on the market today. One thing that sets the ODYSSEY® AGM battery apart from others is its TPPL design. Thin plates are the key. Lead plates give batteries their power. The more plates a battery has, the more power it can deliver. ODYSSEY® batteries contain more plates in the battery casing which is why it’s far more powerful than conventional flooded lead acid batteries. It can provide 3,000 amps of cranking power for nearly five seconds – twice that of conventional batteries. It can also easily handle as many as 400 charge/discharge cycles at an 80 percent depth of discharge (DoD).

Other Benefits

These are just some of the many other reasons you should consider an ODYSSEY® battery.

  • Longer service life – The ODYSSEY® battery is known to last between three to 10 years. While it may be an initial investment compared to other AGM batteries, it will save you money over the long term.
  • Extreme Temperature Tolerance – If you live in an area with extreme temperatures, then you may want to consider an ODYSSEY® ODYSSEY® batteries can operate in temperatures from as low as -40ºF (-40ºC) to as high as 140ºF (60ºC). Some models can even withstand temperatures as high as 176ºF (80ºC) depending on whether they have a metal jacket or not.
  • Faster recharge – The ODYSSEY® battery has the highest recharge efficiency of any sealed lead acid battery on the market. It is capable of 100% recharge in as little as four to six hours.
  • Mounting – Finding enough room to mount an RV battery can be difficult. With the ODYSSEY® battery, the non-spillable design allows it to be mounted in any orientation except upside down.
