The rugged, military-inspired design and non-spillable, virtually maintenance-free Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) construction of ODYSSEY® batteries are engineered with the grit to take the constant pounding that comes with the territory. Manufactured with a proprietary Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, ODYSSEY® Extreme dual-purpose batteries deliver premium starting power along with auxiliary and emergency power. This is especially significant for today’s powersports vehicles, since batteries must not only start the engine, but must also power, or help to power, an increasing number of onboard accessories. ODYSSEY® batteries are also able to perform in extreme weather conditions, providing enormous cranking power at temperatures as low as -40ºF (-40ºC) and immense reliability as high as 176°F (80°C).
Other advantages of TPPL technology in ODYSSEY® batteries include the slower rates of self-discharge than other batteries, providing them with a shelf life of up to two years (three times that of conventional batteries) before it needs a recharge. They are designed for more than 400 charge/discharge cycles at up to 80 percent Depth of Discharge (DOD).
