EnerSys® Highlights the Versatility of ODYSSEY® Batteries at the 2018 AAPEX Show

READING, Pa., September 25, 2018 – EnerSys® (NYSE:ENS), the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications and the manufacturer of ODYSSEY® batteries, will highlight the versatility of ODYSSEY® batteries at the 2018 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in booth no. 679. AAPEX will take place October 30-November 1 in the Sands Expo, Las Vegas, Nevada.

With superior power and endurance through unique Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, ODYSSEY® batteries can be used in a wide array of vehicles, including high performance, modified, heavy duty and commercial, municipal, passenger cars, Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs), light trucks, recreational boats and powersports vehicles, including All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) and motorcycles.

“ODYSSEY® batteries offer a unique capability to handle the increased use of onboard accessories as well as provide reliable starting power,” said Alan Kohler, transportation and specialty marketing manager at EnerSys. “ODYSSEY® batteries are an ideal choice for aftermarket suppliers, giving them the ability to offer their customers a dependable battery designed to meet today’s evolving vehicle demands.”

ODYSSEY® batteries feature TPPL technology, which is utilized in the manufacturing of flat plates made of 99.99 percent pure lead, not lead alloy. These pure lead plates are made thinner, enabling more to fit in the battery for increased plate surface area. The additional surface area allows ODYSSEY® batteries to generate more power as well as provide longer service life, greater reliability and deep-cycle capabilities. ODYSSEY® batteries also include Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) separators that hold acid in place to prevent spills, even when installed on their sides.

ODYSSEY® batteries feature a three- to 10-year service life and two-year storage life at 77°F (25°C). They are vibration resistant, classified as “non-spillable” by the U.S. Department of Transportation and include a limited two- to four-year full replacement warranty.

Also on display in the ODYSSEY Battery booth will be a new battery tester as well as a range of new shop chargers. Currently available for both commercial truck and passenger car applications, the battery tester has an easy-to-read intuitive interface, which allows users to fully utilize test data in a variety of ways. The testers also feature a SPEED CHECK to test battery packs, solo batteries and electrical systems quickly.

The shop chargers are offered in a range of 12 volts – 35 amp, 70 amp and 105 amp – and are capable of operating in a free-standing capacity or wall mounted. The 70 and 105 amp units use a 4.3” multi-color dashboard screen with a customer programmable menu that displays color changes to indicate charge condition.
