EnerSys® Highlights the Versatility of ODYSSEY® Batteries at the 2017 AAPEX Show

READING, Pennsylvania, October 31, 2017 – EnerSys® (NYSE:ENS), the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications and the manufacturer of ODYSSEY® batteries, will highlight the versatility of ODYSSEY® batteries at the 2017 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in booth no. 4684. AAPEX will take place October 31-November 2 in the Sands Expo, Las Vegas, Nevada.

For the first time, EnerSys will display its ODYSSEY® battery product offering at AAPEX. With superior power and endurance through unique Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, ODYSSEY® batteries can be used in a wide array of vehicles, including high performance, modified, heavy duty and commercial, municipal, passenger cars, Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs), light trucks, recreational boats and powersports vehicles, including ATVs and motorcycles.

“Since their introduction to the market in 1996, ODYSSEY® batteries have offered a unique capability to handle the increased use of onboard accessories as well as provide reliable starting power,” said Alan Kohler, transportation and specialty marketing manager at EnerSys. “ODYSSEY® batteries are an ideal choice for aftermarket suppliers, giving them the ability to offer their customers a dependable battery designed to meet today’s evolving vehicle demands.”

ODYSSEY® batteries feature TPPL technology, which is applied to the manufacturing of flat plates made of 99.99 percent pure lead, not lead alloy. These pure lead plates are made thinner, enabling more to fit in the battery for increased plate surface area. The additional surface area allows ODYSSEY® batteries to generate more power as well as provide longer service life, greater reliability and deep-cycle capabilities. ODYSSEY® batteries also include Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) separators that hold acid in place to prevent spills, even when installed on their sides.

ODYSSEY® batteries feature a three- to 10-year service life and two-year storage life at 77°F (25°C). They are vibration resistant, classified as “non-spillable” by the U.S. Department of Transportation and include a limited two- to four-year full replacement warranty.
