How EnerSys is Powering the World’s Only Competitive Team of All-Disabled Racing Drivers

Team BRIT is a competitive motor racing team like no other. The drivers, who are all disabled, use the world’s most advanced hand control technology to race on equal terms against their able-bodied rivals.

EnerSys is sponsoring Team BRIT for the fourth consecutive year by helping to power the team’s vehicles with ODYSSEY® batteries, as the drivers continue to make history in the world of motorsport. Team BRIT has already racked up a number of ‘firsts’, such as being the first all-disabled team to compete in the British GT Championship and the first ever all-disabled team to win a national racing championship, the Britcar Trophy. Longer-term, the team aims to become the first all-disabled team to compete in the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race.

Breaking down barriers for those with physical and psychological challenges, Team BRIT is proof that competitive motorsport is an option for people with disabilities. The extended sponsorship of EnerSys helps enable the team to further its work to create a ladder of development opportunities for disabled drivers, from grassroots, entry level racing, to the most competitive endurance racing in the UK.

“It’s been fantastic to see Team BRIT take podium after podium in recent years. We’re incredibly proud to be part of the journey as Team BRIT continues to make a profound impact in the world of motorsport,” said Dave McMullen, Senior Director of Global Marketing, Transportation & Specialty at EnerSys.

Al Locke, Engineering Director at Team BRIT, said: “Endurance racing demands a battery that is reliable and tough. We’ve been using ODYSSEY® batteries for many years and they never let us down. They deliver extreme power, they’re lightweight and they’re sturdy enough to cope with any knocks on the racetrack. We need the best kit to help us continue with our goals to drive real change, and it’s phenomenal to have EnerSys and its ODYSSEY® batteries on board as we continue to break down barriers in motorsport.”

Team BRIT, which began with just one specially adapted car in 2015, starts the new season with two McLaren 570S GT4s and a BMW® M240i. Team BRIT’s 2025 driver line up incudes:

Team BRIT is one of the many top level competitive racing teams who choose ODYSSEY® batteries to power their vehicles through every race. Engineered with Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, ODYSSEY® batteries deliver extreme power and reliability, whilst also providing strong resistance to the high impact shock and mechanical vibration associated with motorsport.
