Subject:  Odyssey Battery Series Packaging Requirements


On behalf of EnerSys, I hereby certify that all EnerSys ODYSSEY series batteries conform to the Non-spillable battery requirements as established in the 49th Title of the Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR), revised 10/1/07, section 173.159 (d).

In addition, I further certify that all Odyssey series batteries conform to International Air Transport Association (IATA), 49th Edition, Packing Instruction 806 including Special Provision A67 and the International Maritime Dangerous Goods code (IMDG) 2006 Edition, including Special Provision 238, which classifies them as non-regulated goods.

Each battery and the outer packaging must be plainly and durably marked “Nonspillable” or “Nonspillable Battery” and the batteries must be protected against short circuits and must be securely packed in stronger outer packaging.

Note: It is the responsibility of the “Shipper” to ensure each employee who directly affects hazardous material/dangerous goods transportation safety is appropriately trained in accordance with the selected mode of transportation.
